Seeds & back patio

Citronella Plant - bought at Lowe's

Citronella Plant - bought at Lowe's

Threw a few tomato seeds into the pot from a packet I had from last season.

There are 4 sprouts in there now.

Cilantro - I dumped a packet of seeds onto the dirt and got this!

Salsa time soon :)

Yeah.  I do fail at some stuff.  I admit defeat on the bachelor's buttons.  Either they can't stand the FL heat or they were overwatered.  I'm not sure.  I did try to nurture them.  Oh well.  R.I.P. bachelor's buttons.

Front flower beds

These are pictures of the Bleeding Heart plant that just came up.  It is hard to see, but looks like a squiggly stick at the bottom of the picture, in the middle.

Front flower bed, coming along nicely.  Even the pentas that came back from last season are getting bushier and producing blooms, like the one to the left of the rock pile.

Morning glories.  I position them up on the wall each day and they fall back down and wrap around some grass instead.  Go figure.  I'll keep trying.

Morning glories in the driveway bed, doing very well

Ornamental basils

I am trying 2 ornamental basils on top of the Aerogarden: Siam Queen which has a licorice-like flavor and is used mainly in Thai dishes.  I am also trying Red Rubin which will have all purple leaves.  I am mainly growing these basils because they are very showy.  Being able to eat them just happens to be a bonus :)

Siam Queen basil looks like this - full grown
Red Rubin will look like this.  Gorgeous!

Tomatoes - Week 14

I counted 4 on the left plant and 3 on the right.  And I saw more tomato babies coming out of the flowers too.

I decided to let my plants get bushy because they will continue to produce flowers.

In this pic you can see the eucalyptus essential-oil soap, which seems to be working quite well at detering the bugs.  I haven't seen a single bug since I put that there.

Babies!

Plumbagos

Here are some of the plumbago projects I have going on.  I am trying to grow a ring of plumbago around the tree.  A few of my neighbors have done this, and it looks very nice, especially when they all blossom with light blue flowers.  Mine are just starting out, but eventually they will be very bushy.

Interesting photo, with my shadow.

Plumbago corner bed, just starting out

Plumbago corner bed, with upside down tomato.  This is a nice sunny spot during the day, and these plants love it.

Tomatoes!

I found some new tomatoes.  I believe there are now 5 total, and some more little BB-tomatoes that are just coming out of the flowers.

Haven't seen any more whiteflies.  Just one fruit fly.  No biggie.  I put the remainder of an almost-used-up bar of soap on the Aerogarden to keep the bugs away.  It is an all-natural soap made with pure eucalyptus essential oil, which bugs don't like.  I am hoping the smell deters the bugs.
Upside-down tomato.  Cool!

Seed updates

Dill
Dill a few days later, and after being left out in the sun (accidentally).  Well, as it turns out, it loved it!  :)

daisies, bachelors button

Daisy - first signs of sprout
Bachelors button - accidentally left these out in the sun during the day too (I meant to acclimate them to the sun for just 1 hour - oops!).  Kind of droopy but I think they are gonna make it.  What doesn't kill you makes you stonger!
Rosemary, daisies - a few days later

Morning glories - doorway bed

Morning glories - driveway bed, the left ones were direct sown.  Right ones were started in the Aerogarden
