Seed projects

Boyfriend and I decided to start a raised bed, but we also decided it would be more rewarding (and cheaper!) to start our plants from seed under the Aerogarden lights.

Corn, cantaloupe
We selected plants that the University of Florida recommends for this particular part of the season in our zone.

Looks like Audrey 2!  RUN!  It eats human flesh!
There was a delay in getting the raised bed because Lowe's has been out of stock for the last two weeks.  So boyfriend decided to build one.  He started this past weekend by building a trellis to go along with the bed to allow for climbing plants.  Next step is to get some lumber and assemble the bed itself.  In the meantime, these plants outgrew their ice cube tray and had to be transplanted.  I chose biodegradable peat pots that can be planted directly into the raised bed once that is up.

We did not really consider a possible issue with the corn - we have a lot of squirrels!  Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess!
