Days 68-69

Morning glory sprouts

OK, it is becoming crowded in here!  I had to move my upside-down tomato and 2 peppers inside due to the cold front.  It will be in the 50s til Wednesday.

More morning glories sprouting up!  I've already moved a little morning glory sprout pod outside to start climbing the front wall.  I just hope they can stand the FL heat!

I am just guessing it's days 68-69.  I feel like maybe I forget to take a picture here & there.  Not sure though.  Lots of gardening projects are beginning outside.  Bf and I removed all the old mulch from the flower beds and they are now ready to be planted or spruced up again.  Boy was that a task!  I had to take care to not destroy the perennials coming up.

Today I fertilized everything - all flowers, shrubs and citrus trees.

I decided I was going to make a list of everything I want to do outside (landscaping).  I decided to do this by project (usually each project consists of 1 flowerbed, or potting up stuff.  Sometimes relocating plants the previous owner put in).  I ended up with about 12 projects!  Is this obsessive?  We just moved into this house last year at the end of the growing season, so I did not get to do all the stuff I wanted to then.  Also I am discovering what types of plants are already here due to springtime blossoms, etc.

I have no idea if I'll get all my little projects done or if some will have to wait til next season (mostly due to cost - gardening is expensive!).

Remember this?  The deadish thing I stuck in the ground.  It was the piece of the azalea that got trampled off by the armadillo.  Looked brown and sad so I went to pull it out.  BUT it now has a nice long root!  So I guess I have 3 azaleas?  (Plus the big one from previous posts - which is actually 2 shrubs of just the slightest color difference).

I guess now I know how to propagate azaleas!

Azaleas are labeled as "part sun" or "morning sunlight only".  I have these along my back fence which is shaded by trees, but the area gets a little bit of sun in the afternoon.  I hope to plant a bunch more to fill in the empty spaces along the fence.

Upside-down tomato, peppers

The tomato started in the aero now has a new home.  I started him on the back patio under the awning, but he was reeeeaching for the light, so I moved him into the sun today.  Once he gets 5" high, he can be turned upside down in the hanging planter.

Peppers are doing just fine.  Just about a week under the awning to get them used to the outdoors and now they are in the sun too.

Morning glories

The sprouts are kind of funny looking.  A squiggly leaf is coming out, with the seed still on the end of it, keeping the leaf folded for the time being.  My cam didn't really capture the detail I wanted, but you get the gist.
