Garden starter kit

Here we have sunflowers and pickling cucumber. These were started in the garden starter kit but got too big for it, so I moved them to peat pots. I can't take them outside yet because evenings are in the forties.

In the garden starter system, which is new to me, I have tomatoes, borage, dill, basil and eggplant that have all sprouted. I also have pansies starting to sprout. I hope to soon see the catnip, parsley, and sweet peppers sprout.

January harvest!

Turnips and cabbage!

I used the tunips to make turnip-potato pancakes!

There was not much usable cabbage, as caterpillars or bugs were snacking on it, but I cut around those parts and made coleslaw.

Most of all, I loved the turnip greens, which my boyfriend made with bacon and salt. Yum!

Harvest!

Guess what today's snack is?

The jalapeno and cherry tomato plant have now been potted and moved outside, and I have the garden starter tray going in the Aerogarden for the first time. The tray allows me to start many plants for Spring, for outdoor placement.

Aside from all the vegetables and herbs in there, I also planted sunflowers for fun, and they have already begun to sprout! :-)

And boyfriend is ready to build a second raised bed too!
